Discussion with the BHA, Will Lambe joined the meeting and provided an update on the following items
News that there was a significant drop in the levy, and some of the issues that may have caused this.
BHA intend to recruit a replacement for the HBF’s main contact at the BHA who will work mainly on regulatory betting matters, market analysis and social responsibility.
An overview of the work that is being taken by the Horse Racing Levy Board to invest in Sectional Timing.
The HBF’s limited trust in going stick readings, lack of updates when the weather changes and general availability of the data.
An update on the handicapping review, fixture list consultation (2020) and plans for the fixture list in 2021.
An update on the Stewarding Review and how the recommendations are being implemented.
HBF also raised issues of bettors not being notified in advance when racecourses will remove hurdles when there may be low sun.
